Some students prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and the students with almost no lectures. Other students prefer classes with many lectures and almost no discussions. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Throughout the history, education has played a prevailing role in everyone’s success. Moreover, the 20th and 21st centuries are characterized by all the momentous changes they have made in human’s lives. Perhaps the most important milepost of these two centuries is education and the most controversial part of this issue is methods of education. In this regard, there is a long-standing, heated debate among academicians that whether courses with frequent discussions are an assert to students or not. Some people are leading proponents of claim that teacher-led lessons in which teachers just give lectures during whole classes are more beneficial. However, from my prospective, this statement in false, as a matter of fact; I hold firmly to the view that discussion-based classes are the most beneficial method of learning. In the subsequent paragraphs, I will delve into three conspicuous reasons in order to aptly elaborate on my standpoint.
The first exquisite point to be mentioned is that discussion-based courses contribute to make a major breakthrough to students’ study skills. Due to having a propriate communication with others in confined time of the class, discussion-based lessons make study skills burgeon. To shed light on this issue, while students and teacher have interaction with each other through argument, some of their features including agility, being interconnected with subjects, holding opinion, acknowledging the faults etc. in other words, discussion indirectly triggers making improvements with study skills including scheduling, planning, note taking, group work, and so on. Learning with discussion, therefore, produces abilities which are be an asset to students for not only academic achievement but also future accomplishment.
Furthermore, it is established beyond doubt that this kind of learning also lead to self-esteem. One of the integral parts of these classes in to ask or answer the questions. Even though, at the get go, some students might be frightened to take part in debates, by elapse of time, they become more intrigued by involving with lessons. In the process, they attain the most important characteristics, confidence, which definitely assists them to be successful in future life. For the purpose of illustration, I had been shy before getting in university. Subsequently, I had gotten into Tabriz University, owing to academic environment in university which has interaction between students and professors in the classes, I became more confident and started conveniently interacting in classes.
Finally, it is important to bear in mind that classes with mostly discussion between students and teacher end up more favorable outcomes. Since students efficiently understand the lessons, students perfume productively. As a consequent, they get better results in exams. The noteworthy statistics, revealed by recent social research conducted in our country, recognize that students who receive method of learning that they exchange opinions and information, are given higher scores in final exams. As a results, they will be able to find better high-paid job opportunities in the future.
To wrap it up, contemplating all the aforementioned reasons, one soon realizes that students can assimilate knowledge in such classes. I strongly recommend that education systems utilize this novel, efficient method of teaching. had governments exploited this way, lots of the problems in education system even in societies would have been solved.
