The line chart compares how many times each year Mauritian adolescents eat hamburgers, pizza and fried chicken over a period of 30 years.
Overall, the number of times Mauritian teenagers eat hamburgers and fried chicken rose significantly, while there was a dramatic drop in that of pizza consumption during the period shown.
In 1985, the frequency of pizza consumed by minors in Mauritius was the highest, at 60 times per year, while the figures for hamburgers and fried chicken were much lower, at only 10 times and 5 times per year respectively. However, after 15 years, all three kinds of fast food were consumed at the same frequency in the year 2000, around 40 times per year.
From 2000 to 2015, the number of times Mauritian teenagers eat hamburgers increased considerably and reached a peak of 70 times per year, while the figure for pizza consumption decreased significantly and hit a low of only 10 times in 2015. There was a sharp jump in the frequency of fried chicken consumption by Mauritian adolescents by 20 times before remaining steadily around 60 times per year until the end of the period.
