The graph below shows the number of overseas visitors to three different areas in a European country between 1987 and 2007. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph depicts information about the number of foreign travellers to three given regions, namely: the coast, the mountains and the lakes, from 1987 to 2007.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that at the beginning of the period, visitors travelled the most to the coast and the least to the Lakes area. Throughout the period, the number of foreign travellers to the Lakes and the coast fluctuated but peaked in 2007, whereas this figure of the mountains area experienced an upward trend until significantly went down in 2002 afterwards.
In 1987, there were 40.000 visitors who went to the coast for travel while this number of travellers of the Lakes was four times smaller. In upcoming years, the number of people travelled to the coast and the mountains witnessed a fluctuation but this figure of the Lakes ara increased gradually until reached its peak in 2002 at more than 70.000 visitors.
At the end of the period, the coast became the area which had most visitors of 75.000 visitors. By contrast, after experiencing a sharp decrease, the mountains only had 50.000 travellers. Simultaneously, the Lakes visitors only stood at 35.000 people, caused by a slowest growth rate among three countries.
