Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage

Both the passage and the lecture are about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a brotherhood founded by three renowned artists William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. According to the lecture, the Pre-Raphaelites dealt with the medieval culture that was considered to be archaic at that time, but they believed that there were spiritual and artistic elements instilled in medieval culture that they felt were lost and they had to preserve them. Medieval culture was considered archaic because it clashed with realism, which held the importance of independent observation of nature. But the Pre-Raphaelites were keen observers of nature and were strict in getting details of plants and minute parts accurately.

Much of the reason why they were keen observers was due to the influence by John Ruskin. This was because Ruskin believed that a painter should be true to nature and that an artist's job was to observe the reality of nature and render it as seen and understood, imaginatively on canvas. This corroborates the point in the lecture where it is stated that Ruskin admired the innovations in landscape paintings by these artists and their dedication to accuracy in rendering plants and fine details.

Finally, while the professor in the lecture indicates that the Brotherhood dissolved in the early 1850s, the passage indicates that there was a revival that took place in 1855 in which Gabriel Dante Rossetti, who was a member of the Brotherhood, met Burne-Jones and Morris. Rossetti took these two under his wing and taught them. Together they continued the Pre-Raphaelite tradition.
