eco-certified for wood companies
The reading and lecture discuss the importance of achieving eco-certification for wood companies which, is granted to companies meeting a high standard of environmental take caring. the author doubted that US companies are not eager with achieving these certifications. On the contrary, the lecturer contradicts various viewpoints mentioned in the passage base on three reasons.
To begin with, the author asserts that American people do not attend to advertising claims. on the other hand, the lecturer draws attention to the fact that US people do not trust advertising the company itself said. Actually, independent and international advertisers' thoughts could be important for people and they are authorized when the products are endorsed through international organizations.
Additionally, the author believes that investments in achieving eco-certification can affect the price of companies' goods and the end-user customers do not be interested in spending extra money just because of a certification. in contrast, the lecturer's stance is that achieving these kinds of certifications could not cost a lot for companies, yet on the other hand, people could tolerate a small increase in prices. however, there are more important factors than a small budget change.
in the end, the author says that international certifications are only useful when the company has exported to aboard. Even though most US wood companies sell their products inside the country. lecturer cast doubt that in this situation world people could see and buy goods from almost where they want and if the US companies do not attend to people's requirements they could lose the competition to foreign companies which afford various situations to customers.
