The table and charts illustrate the police budget for two years: 2017 and 2018 in a particular region in Britain. The table demonstrates the sources of funds for the department and the charts show how it was spent. Overall, the money came from the National Government funds and distributed to pay for officers and staff salaries was the majority, while the police department received less from other sources such as grants, and the money spent on technology was the least.
As shown in the table, in both years, the federal government allocated the most in funding for the police department. In 2017 and 2018, the national administration contributed £177,5 and £177,8 million respectively which accounted for just over 58% of the total budget in 2017 and nearly 56% in 2018. Followed by the money from local taxes which reached £91,2 million occupying approximately 30% in 2017 and £102,3 million accounting for 32% in 2018. Subsidies for the officer and staff are the lowest which is £38 million in 2017 and increased by £0,5 million in 2018. This budget took up around 12% of the grand total in two years.
As for the pie chart, the money which was distributed to salaries of officers and staff took up the most percentage of the chart. This rate was three quarters in 2017 and 69% in 2018. The smallest proportion was the money consumed by technology. This figure occupied 4% and 14% in 2017 and 2018 separately. Police infrastructures and means of transport consumed the same amount of money in two years which stayed at 17% of the money in total.
