The graph below shows carbon dioxide emissions per capita in four countries from 1975 to 2010
The line graph compares four different areas regarding metric tonnes of carbon dioxide that a person released during a period of 35 years, commencing from 1975.
In general, there was an upward tendency in the amount of CO2 emitted in China, Thailand, and Vietnam, while the opposite was true to Singapore. In addition, Singapore predominated as the country had the highest level of CO2 during the period shown and Vietnam remained the lowest position over the same period.
Although sharing the same starting point at 0.5 in 1975, Vietnam stabilized over the first 20 years, then went up a little to approximately 2 in the final year, while Thailand experienced a considerable rise by 4 at the end of the period. Similarly, the level of carbon dioxide emissions in China commenced at around 1 in the initial year, followed by a significant growth to a high of 2 in 1995. Subsequently, this category saw a slight decrease in numbers and was surpassed by that of Thailand before reclaiming its second range and reaching over 5 in 2010.
On the other hand, a more volatile pattern was observed in Singapore's carbon dioxide production. Beginning at 11 in 1975, which was much higher than the other three countries, the level of CO2 released by Singapore fluctuated dramatically and reached a peak at 15 in 1975. Thereafter, it plummeted by half in 2005 and bounced back to its starting point in the last year
