Negative attitudes about school
It is widely acknowledged that there is a surging number of many young people who leave school hold a negative attitude towards learning. This trend has been a polarizing topic that many people lean toward. There are some causes for this issue and several possible solutions could be addressed to.
On the one hand, there are many compelling rationales why school-leavers are usually upset about learning. First and foremost, tuition fees are supposed to be higher than standards in schools and universities throughout some countries. Consequently, underprivileged students who live under adverse conditions cannot afford to enroll in or continue to learn. Given the fact that in several nations in Europe, the complaints from citizen about the cost of schooling has arisen recently, and it may continue even drastically in the near future. Additionally, studies have shown that students who often leave school are not as talented as others. The schooling environment is highly competitive, so that incompetent students might not catch up with others because of the lack of productivity and efficiency. For instance, surveys have been conducted in many universities in Asia and America, and the clearest reason of school-leavers is that they face severely peer pressure, which discourage them to abandon their learning.
However, despite the aforementioned causes, government in coordination with universities are preparing lots of solutions to deal with this problem, specifically in developed and developing nations. The key solution is the implication of policy about tuition exemption for disadvantageous students. Waiving tuition can encourage indirectly students to return to their schools and so that the total enrolment of schooling will reach a notable upswing. As a matter of fact, in several Asian countries, the tuition fees are being discussed to be lower, which allows students and pupils at any age to have better opportunities to gain access to lifelong learning and prevents them from leaving school. Another pronounced solution is that government should hold some campaigns and propaganda to address the imperative role of learning in human lives. Having experience and reinforcing the knowledge from learning is beneficial not only for academic skills but also daily life skills. Therefore, schooling ought to be widespread instead of being criticized badly by a little school-leavers, who spoils the importance of learning in modern society.
In conclusion, even though this trend will be constantly controversial due to its disputed causes and effects, I do think that it may be quickly solved with a lot of practical solutions implied by the government.
