The problems caused by work-related stress (such as lack of productivity) have become a concern for both employers and workers. What do you think are the main causes of work-related stress and how they can be avoided?
It is said that work-related stress is a growing problem at the workplace. There are several reasons why this is the case, and they can be avoided by some reasonable solutions.
The stress related to work usually comes from several factors. The main reason for stress at work can be the introduction of new technologies. The existence of advances in mobile technology has created the expectation that all problems can be dealt with immediately. As a result, many employers may pressure their workers to achieve more in their working week. This situation can cause employees to have longer working hours, and sometimes, because of the overload of work, their job extends into the home. Under such circumstances, workers are forced to ignore their families, which can hurt the emotional and positive relationships at home and put more pressure on such individuals. Another factor is having a low salary. The increasing living costs can make low-income workers stressed out, as many of them, due to the lack of jobs in the job market, are not able to find a better situation in which to earn more money.
However, the problems mentioned above can be addressed. Firstly, the government can take steps in order to force companies and employers to reduce the working hours in a day from 9 to 6 hours. In this condition, employees can have enough time to rest and spend time with their family. Also, when employees are not tired and do not have stress, they can be more productive and motivated to work hard and increase the productivity of their company. Secondly, the government has to financially support companies in order to offer their workers good pay packages to meet their needs without any worries. Also, employers have to be committed to their social responsibilities to their workers. Instead of exploiting their staff at workplaces, managers must provide some facilities for their employees to have a better quality of life, such as a premium that can cover the costs of treatment. By such proposed solutions, the level of stress at work will reduce, and the mental and physical health of staff is preserved.
In conclusion, in my view, many factors can cause stress at work, and most of them can be solved by the government and employers.
