The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart clearly illustrates the total number of different types of telephone calls which are made by British people between 1995 and 2002. Time on the horizontal axis is plotted against minutes in billion on vertical axis.
As can be seen, although the total number of minutes of mobile calls and national and international calls by fixed lines increase during the period, there is a wax and wane in the total number of local calls by fixed lines. In 1995, 70 billion minutes of local calls are made by fixed lines. The total number of local calls by fixed lines rises untill 1999, when it reaches its peak of 90 billion minutes. Then it falls gradually and stands at a bit more than 70 billion minutes in 2002. By contrast, national and international calls by fixed lines and all mobile calls grow continuously from 37 billion minutes and 2 billion minutes in 1995 to 60 billion minutes and 42 billion minutes in 2002 respectively. The total number of minutes of national and international calls made by fixed lines goes up gradually; however, there is a huge increase in total number of minutes of mobile calls in 2001, and it is nearly doubled.
In the final analysis, it is interesting to note that local calls by fixed lines are staple of calls in the period; in contrast, mobile calls have the lowest amount between three categories of calls in all years.
