Environmental problems are too great to be managed by individuals so real change can only be achieved at government level. To what extent do you agree or disagree to this point? Support your point of view with reasons and/or examples from your own experience. PTE-A. 200 to 300 words
With expansion of globalization, its negative impacts on environment are also worsening day by day, and there is no denying the fact that it needs immediate actions on large scale to control the same. Most of us believe that these problems are too big that they can only be managed by governments and we as individuals can’t do much. I disagree to this point, believing that collective efforts from responsible individuals can boost correct steps taken by governments in the right direction to help elevate the progress.
In today’s world, transportation has reached new horizons, Air transport is more affordable to everyone than in the past, furthermore, private transport is now most favored resulting in increased usage of fossil fuel; also deforestation to support increasing population demands are imposing harder problems like greenhouse emissions. Definitely governments around the world need to collectively take strict actions to control usage of fossil fuels, by making more stringent policies like levy heavy taxes on usage of private vehicles, and build and provide easy, fast and comfortable public transport as an option.
However we as individuals also need to act more responsibly and sensibly for above outlined problems. For example, individuals can have renewable energy like solar panels setup for their houses to limit the electricity usage produced from fossil fuels, definitely governments can help providing subsidies for the same. In addition to that, general people can have small in-house gardens maintained to reduce greenhouse emission effects.
To conclude, I agree that Governments need to take major steps to control environmental problems and they can contribute the most, however individuals also need to act more responsibly and support efforts taken by governments. Finally individual citizens are the ones who make any policies successful made by policy makers – the government.
