Imitating celebrities in sports and movies is good or bad?

In these days, there is no denying the fact that the celebrities in sports and movies are being imitated. While many people believe that this brings about positive impact to people’s live, other feels that the opposite is also correct. This essay offers some insights on both the merits and demerits of the phenomenon.

Perhaps the greatest benefit that people can enjoy from imitating sports and movies superstars is a better society. As a matter of fact, people would set their idols as a role model and mimic their actions. For example, if the celebrities are doing voluntary works such as collecting rubbish along the street, then following such action would result in a cleaner street for everyone. Another advantage is a healthier lifestyle for people. To give an illustration, if a superstar gives up his smoking and alcohol drinking habits, then his followers would benefit from abandoning these bad habits as well.

Nonetheless, like two sides of the same coin, imitating celebrities also creates many problems. The most obvious negative impact may be a degrading society. This is due to the fact that not all celebrities are of good conduct, well-behaved and has a healthy lifestyle. As a consequence, those who follow their idol’s bad habits such as drinking, smoking and wearing inappropriate clothes would turn into a burden of the society and impede its development.

In conclusion, from the above analysis, it is clear that while imitating celebrities allow people to enjoy great benefits, it also brings upon many drawbacks to others’ lives and the society.
