in this set of materials, the reading passage discusses the humpback whales navigated on the sea using stars. while in the listening, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and believes that this theory is fascinating but it is not convincing.
First of all, in the text it is clearly mentionec that the humback whales are intelligent enough to have ability of navigate through stars. However, the professor claims that using stars for navigation is not related to intelligent because for example, some animals like dogs or some birds using stars for navigation. But, for intence dogs have average intelligent not high thus this conction between intelligent and useing stars for avigation is not acceptable.
In addition, the professor disagrees with this idea that the humpback whales need the external force to migrate in the straight lines and this force is stars. He points out that this force is magnetic in the Whales brain and animals magnetic is sensitive to the magnetic field of Earth not related to stars.
Finally, in the text, it is stated that the behavior of spy-hopping is a cluster of maybe humpback whales looking upward to see stars. The professor subscribes that another animals like sharks do spy-hopping but they do not look to stars because they do this behavior during the day and it is for finding prey, not for navigation.
