An ailing patient should have easy access to his or her doctor’s record of treating similarly afflicted patients. Through gaining such access, the ailing patient may better determine whether the doctor is competent to treat that medical condition.
I disagree with the statement that an ailing patient should not have easy access to his/her doctor's record of treating similarly afflicted patients. The author claims that through gaining such access, the ailing patient may better determine whether the doctor is competent to treat that medical condition. However, its consequences will cause to make patient more sick or even worse it causes to make him/her die.
At first sight, we all know that medical descriptions, and terminology are always obfuscating to us who does not have any medical information. Such a patient, who is like normal people, will never understand the records that doctors saved for tracking the patients progressing. Thus, it does not help patients whether they have an easy access to his/her doctor's record or not.
Moreover, if patients want to contact with another patients who are similarly afflicted patients, there are many organizations do this meeting. Patients can search online for their disease, and can find the specific organization that has established only for those patients who have the same disease. After that patient can contact, meet and talk about with them. Even more, they have some events, charity nights, and people who advocate helping those patients. In this way, rather than patient’s own effort, they may connect more and more similarly afflicted patients only with these organizations. Even more, some patients may get another medication for their disease, maybe their doctor use another medication for same disease. Thus, they will learn other options and circumstances, how to approach or how to heal their disease with professional communication and comparing their situation with other patients.
Other bad effects of the easy access to his/her doctor’s record are different bodies, different healing results, and different metabolism. For instance, two patients have similar cancer type, and doctor giving same treatment and medication to two patients. Even so, the results may not be same in two patients. One may be heal in a short time, the other one may be worse with that treatment. Comparing themselves with these little data is a only myopic way to cure their disease. Even worse, they most probably loose their patience in the term of treatment. Their mind will be dubious, they ask many question like why he/her will get better, why I am not, why he is get only 2 times a medication, why I have three times. Those unnecessary questions will only enervate his/her patience. And in this term they need positive energy, they should believe their doctor do his/her best to treat these patients. Everything about positive energy, if the patient believe he/she will be fine, if they believe their doctor cure them in a best way, I am sure they will heal shorter.
In conclusion, we are free to search about our disease. We can ask million questions to our doctor, we can learn whatever we want through the doctor, and similarly afflicted patients, Internet forums, other doctor's ideas. However, we cannot make an analogy between two similarly afflicted patients. Everybody's metabolism, reaction, body power will differ from each other. We should believe our inner power to heal with positive energy. Rather than, decreasing our energy and patience with comparing ourselves with other similarly afflicted patients, we should stay calm and think positive, and find our friends in an organizations.
