The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s.
The pie chart represents four important causes for cultivation being less effective. The table illustrates three regions of the world which were affected by these causes in the 1990’s.
From the pie chart, it was observed that overgrazing was the main reason and stands at top of the list for degradation of the land which is about 35% responsible. Deforestation is another reason which is about 30% which stands before over cultivation and other reasons as in last in its position.
The table shows that the major part of the land was degraded in Europe nearly 23% and Oceania at a state of 13% degradation and North America with the highest in its fertile area. Europe takes the leading position in deforestation and over-cultivation with 9.8% and 7.7% respectively. Similarly, Oceania land became non-fertile mostly due to overgrazing and there was nil over cultivation in this area.
In conclusion, North America was considered to be more fertile compared to two other regions and most part of Europe is covered with the non-fertile area in comparison to North America and Oceania.
