The given line graph portrays the expenditure spending on books in Germany, France, Italy, and Austria from 1995 to 2005.
On the whole, most of the countries experienced fluctuation in the spending on the books between 1995 and 2005, except France. Germany has the largest number in expenditure on books throughout the ten-year period. On the contrary, Austria saw the least number in spending on books initially, but became the third place in the year 2005.
Turning to the detail, it is salient that the predominant number of expenditure on books could be observed in Germany. Besides, there was an upward trend in the spending, rising from 80 million in 1995 to a pinnacle of 95 million US dollars in 2005. By the same token, the second most number spending on books fell into France, increasing from about 55 million initially to roughly 75 million US dollars finally. It is also interesting to note that the most dramatic change went to Austria. After rising from 30 to 40 million between 1995 and 1999, the number then remained constant in the following two years. Subsequently, this figure continued to grow sharply, and reach a peak of over 70 million in 2005, which is about twofold as in the year 1995.
The most striking point is that the number of expenditure on books in Austria intersected with that of Italy, standing at nearly 60 million in 2003.
