The usefulness of School’s subjects is an often debated topic. While some people believe that this kind of syllabus for schools are not practical, many still think that teaching these subjects are far more efficient for children. This essay will discuss why current content of subjects are not practical for students after leaving school.
The current subjects in school has been wrote by pedagogical experts and annually being up-to-date so as to make compatible content based on children’s need, in this fast paced world. To put simply, the curriculum in schools are wider and focus in all fields that brings more opportunities to make students employable. For instance, a non-profit Meshcat school in Tabriz provide children a vast array of lessons such as mathematics, science, geography as well as communication skills in order to bridge the gap between school and work environment by encouraging them to work as a group on defined projects since it makes them more versatile and plays an important role in their future job position. Finally, these subjects based on some point of view are capable to cope with the needs of children.
On the other hand, the opponent holds that these subjects are not state-of-the-art and schools should keep abreast of the latest development in education. In other words, students with this out of date subjects lag behind the work-related needs. For example, in the majority of construction companies in Iran about the half of engineers are unable to handle the megastructure projects by new technology such as BIM which makes an integrated platform to manage the construction projects with more proficiency as well as efficiency. It goes without saying that those students are being excelled in new technology are more marketable in the job market without having knowledge about regular subjects in schools.
In conclusion, should new subjects displace with the current one? This essay discussed why state-of-the-art subjects should be displaced by out of date ones but why some people hold the view that the current one successfully copes with the needs of students. In my opinion, the current course studies do not offer more job opportunities in the not distant future in this competitive world.
