The bar chart compares the distances which men and women traveled for six different purposes in the year 2009.
It is obvious that working was the main reason for both genders to travel, and it was also the longest distance they made in 2009. Additionally, while more men went on a trip within a day to learn new cultures, more women preferred travelling for entertainment.
To be specific, both females and males traveled for a day with the shortest distance, with roughly 7,500 miles and 10,000 miles respectively. Conversely, traveling for work was the most common reason, accounted for 65,000 miles a year in total. Men also liked to make a trip for learning new culture more than women, 15,000 miles compared with 12,000 miles.
Regarding the other three reasons, women made longer distances than men. There was about 3,000 miles longer women made for going sight-seeing and shopping. Meanwhile, women traveled 25,000 miles to visit relatives and friends, was significantly higher than men did. (nearly 23,000 miles)
