The text claims three reasons for rejecting the beneficial usage of turtle excluder device(TED), however the professor believes that TED is an efficient tool for protecting sea turtles and rejects the lecture's reasons.
Firstly, although, some shrimpers claim that turtles get trapped only rarely, the professor points out that there are thousands of shrimpers in the USA coast. Therefore, annually thousand sea turtles may be trapped by shrimpers which can lead to the population extinction of this animal sea.
Secondly, the reading suggests that shorting the time limit that shrimps boats are allowed to keep their nets underwater is an effective method than TED. Controversy, the professor claims that this method cannot be monitored by government, while TED is a standard tool for this purpose and government can introduce strong roles for using this method, even impose fine for boats who will not use from TED.
Eventually, though, the reading claims that TED is just efficient for small species of endangered sea turtles, the professor claims that TED can be modifies easily for large species. In fact, TED function is flexible for different size of sea turtles.
