The given maps illustrate the changes which have taken place in town centre since 1700 to 2019.
On the west of town centre, there was Steggle farm which is now turned into Steggle road with traffic lights on either side. The river and bridge remained unchanged for decades. There were only few shops, large fields and only less houses in 1700 in southern part but now there are many houses and shops however, no fields. The middle part of town centre is more or less same as compared to in 1700. The only change is additional building of hotel. Moreover, in northern part of town centre, Goode farm has benn converted into car park with lots of houses. On the right of market street more houses are built than before a decades along with blocks of flats. When we see opposite of flat blocks, supermarket can be observed where there used to be fields long back ago.
To sum up, much changes are not seen in western and central part of town centre. However, many changes have occured in east, north and south of centre of town in comparison to 1700.
