Work is being done on the street where you live. The noise is disturbing you.
Write a letter of complaint to your local council. In your letter,
A) Introduce yourself
B) Explain what the problem is
C) Suggest solutions
Dear Sir/Madame,
I would like to express my grievance because of nuisance created in the nights due to roads restoration in my community.
I am John Lee, residing in 173A, First Avenue, South Hampton. Recently, The Council starts rebuilding of roads in our neighborhood, which is a much-needed routine for the welfare for the district. For this activity, heavy machinery and equipment are bought to the spot by the contractors and they are generating huge unpleasant sounds in the vicinity.
This spoils the pleasant nature of the locality. Since they are working in the night, it is creating huge discomfort for the people and it is impossible to sleep in the dusk, especially kids. If you need my neighbor's opinion on this issue, please refer the attachment for a detailed complaint letter, which is counter-signed by them.
Hereby, I would like to request you to do the necessary steps to stop works at night and to reduce the trouble in the day. I will be grateful, if you act on this issue as soon as possible.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
John Lee.
