The effect of law on a person's behavior has been a topic of debate these days. Some people believe that the law can change a person's behavior while others believe it has no effect. This essay will discuss how the law can change human behavior.
Some people believe that the law cannot change a person's behavior. Old habits die hard. It is a very common and popular adage. Humans repeat habitual actions. For example, criminals are often repeat offenders. The law did not stop them from doing the same actions. Thus, the law cannot change human inclinations and behavior.
On the other hand, people may believe that the law can change human behavior. Children, when taught at an early age to follow traffic rules, grow up to be law-abiding citizens because they were conditioned to be so. For example, a city in Germany teaches young students to follow traffic laws. They have the lowest rate of traffic-related accidents. This is tangible evidence that the law can change human behavior.
In summary, this essay discussed how the law can or cannot change human behavior. In my opinion, I believe that the law can change human behavior by conditioning them to do certain actions. I suggest that we continue to teach law to members of society especially to children so they will grow up to be law-abiding citizens.
