The chart below shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.
From the chart, we can see the percentage of people in the UK who consumed five portions of fruit and vegetables as a daily routine has increased from 2001 to 2008. The chart divides the British population into three categories, men, women and children.
More specifically, the year 2006 saw the highest percentage for women, more than 30% of whom ate five portions of fruits and vegetables per day, but a decrease of about two per cents year on year can be seen thereafter.
Besides, no matter in which year, women were the group who ate most fruits and vegetables and children as the least. It is worthy to mention that the year 2004 saw a great rise of the figure after a three-year stability both for men and children. However, the percentage never reached 30% for men and children, which proves the differences between men and women in lifestyles.
Another point needed to notice is that the percentages of all the three groups dropped in the year 2008. However, overall, trend is going to be positive in terms of a healthy lifestyle.
