The bar chart illustrates the worldwide sales of four different types of games namely mobile phone games, online games, console games and handheld games in seven years between 2001 to 2006. Units are measured in billion dollars.
Overall, handheld games remained the most popular of all during the period given. Furthermore, purchase of handheld games, mobile games and online games increased throughout the time, whereas demand of console games showed a gradual decrease.
With regards to sales of handle games, it was just below 12 billion dollars in 2000, after which it rose steadily to reach a peak of just below 18 billion dollars in 2006. Both online games and mobile phone games were introduced later in 2001 and 2002 respectively. They followed a similar trend accounting for less than 1 and around 1 billion dollars in 2001 and 2002 respectively before experiencing a considerable growth to attain a sales of about 7 and about 8 billion dollars in the end respectively.
On the other hand, the business of console games declined by half over the period starting at approximately 6 billion dollars and ending at approximately 3 billion dollars.
