The tables below give information about sales of fairtrade
The tables compare the amounts of money five countries in Europe spent on Fairtrade-labelled coffee and banana in 1999 and 2004.
According to the table, the sales of coffee in Denmark and Sweden both saw an increase of 0.2 millions of euros. Residents in Belgium were also spending more money on this product. Furthermore, Switzerland's figure of 2004 doubled that of 1999, while a tremendous rise could be seen in the UK expenditure on coffee, which made it the country whose budget was biggest for coffee.
On the other hand, the figures for Switzerland, UK and Belgium's spending on bananas also experienced the same pattern. To be more specific, the increases in these countries were nearly threefold, fivefold and eightfold respectively. In contrast, the sales of banana in Sweden decreased by 0.8 millions of euros and that of Denmark saw a fall of 1.1 millions of euros in 2004.
All in all, through the years, coffee seemed to have maintained its share of the market, while bananas became less common of a product to residents in Denmark and Belgium.
