Given is the three pie charts providing yearly expenditure by a UK school in three separate years: 1981, 1991 and 2001.

At the first glance, it is the most noticeable that teacher’ salaries accounted by far the most proportion in total school spending in 3 years, namely 40%, 50% and 45%. In term of percentage, spending on other worker’ salaries came to second and this cost decreased from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001. Meanwhile, insurance expenditure just made up 2% in 1981 and 8% in 2001.

Two other annual expenditure included resources, furniture and equipment. It is also interesting to note that the total spending on these two areas always occupied nearly 30%. While the cost spent on resources drop in 2001, the cost spent on furniture and equipment rose sharply, with 23%.

Overall, while spending on other worker’ salaries and insurance showed a definite downward or upward trend, the proportion of other costs fluctuated through three years.
