The chart below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.
Given are pie charts providing information on the average rates of three different sorts of nutrients namely, sodium, saturated fats, and added sugar which are consumed by Americans in three main meals of a day, and also in snacks. Measures are shown in percentages.
A brief analysis of the figures reveals that while people in the USA consume equal amounts of sodium in breakfast and snacks, they eat the lowest percentage of added sugar in lunch and dinner.
To begin with sodium, approximately 43% of the figure goes on dinner meal which is the highest proportion of this element in comparison to other nutrients; besides, 29% of the chart formed by the lunch meal. Although half of the remaining 26% allocates to breakfast, the other half leads to snacks.
Regarding saturated fats, the most significant contribution of the chart, including 37% named for dinner. Where lunch and breakfast comprised almost 26% and 16% of the figure, respectively, the share of snacks is just over one-fifth of the whole (at precisely 21%).
For the remained chart, 42% of added sugar is eaten in snacks which is by far the highest rate compared to the three main meals. Even though dinner meals are responsible for 23% of this component, around 19% of it is consumed in lunch, remaining for 16% in breakfast.
