Bar chart
Two bar charts provide information about the proportion of marriages or divorces and the relationship status of adults in the USA during the period 1970 and 2000.
Overall, it is obvious that the rate of marriages outnumbered that of divorces. Besides, the middle-age population which had married status occupied the largest share.
The number of marriages remained stable in the first two years 1970 and 1980, then slightly decreased to 2 million in 2000, which was accounted for 2 million. conversely, the divorces proportion witnessed a softly rise in 1980, which was approximately 1.5 million although there was no difference between the beginning point and the endpoint of the period, the number was accounted for 1 million.
The majority of people who were single in 1970 was lower compared with that in 2000, in contrast with other sectors. People who married significantly outweighed other categories in both years, which were 70% and 60% respectively, these numbers were threefold those of people who never married and sixfold those of people who widowed and divorced.
