<span style="font-size: 19.36px;">The lecture mainly contradicts the author's arguments stating that the business around fossils is an unfortunate problem for society. The professor doesn't believe that the problem is as critical compared to what the passage portraits, and refutes each of the author's reasons.
The reading states that people can not have access to private collections to observe fossils. The professor, however, assesses these points by stating that there are still many interesting fossils for public exhibitions, and the fossils are not as scarce as the author believes. The professor adds that thanks to the collectors many fossils are available, to illustrate her idea; This plainly shows that, even with less budget, institutes can buy many fossils for both science and public's satisfaction.
According to the article, scientists miss important information, because they can not purchase many fossils. In contrast, the professor says that fossils' values are determined by researchers; in fact, they are passed through the scientific community. She concedes that the final destination of many fossils is the house of collectors, but this does not mean that the scientific community is missing information about those fossils.
The author wraps her argument positioning that much data about the origins of fossils destroys by commercial collectors. The professor says that this claim is problematic; this is because, if collectors were not collecting fossils, there would not be as many fossils compared to now. According to the professor, many fossils would not have been found without the commercial discovery groups; therefore, these minor mistakes are acceptable.
To sum tp, both the author and the lecturer hold conflicting ideas about the commercial collector's position in fossils' discovery. they have a hard time finding common ground about the issue.</span><br>
