The topic of the article as well as the lecture is the fossil of T. rex, which was a dinosaur lived70 million years ago; this fossil seems to contain residues of the animal's tissue. The writer explains that when the scientist intentionally had broken the T. rex's leg bone, they found some material there which resembles to blood vessels, red blood cells, and collagen matrix. On the contrary, the lecturer provides a number of counterarguments in its rejection.Initially, the writer asserts that researchers found many small branches inside the bone, whichwere assumed to be channels of the blood vessels; this idea had intensified when they found asoft material inside these channels which could represent remanets of the blood vessels. However, the speaker believes that a long time after an organism had died, bacteria colonizedin hollows behind trace of organic materials trace. So this soft material might be bacterial colonies, not parts of original animal.Second, the author states that results of experiments showed that there were some spheres with dark red centers, envolved of iron which plays a necessary role in blood cells. Yet again, the lecturer underscores that fossils of a primitive animal were found in the same site, which didn't have any red blood cells when they were alive. Therefore, this reddish material could be something else, for instance a red mineral. The final point of disagreement between the reading and the listening passage is collagen. The writer says that scientists had found collagen in the bone when they executed a test on it; Collagen is a fibrous protein that constitutes main part of alive bone tissue. In contrast, the lecturer explains that collagen never could be found in fossils older than 100 years ago, so finding collagen in the part of a fossil that lived 70 million years ago sounds to be contradictory. He thinks that because collagen can find in human skin, the collagen which was found in the test results must have come from a recent source such as skin of the researcher who was handling the bone.
