Wihle the reading passage gives some benefits of high taxes, the professor in the lecture says that, these benefits are challenging, and she use some reasons to support her opinion.
First, by increasing taxet people encourage to buy fewer cigarettes and unhealthy food, so in this situation they will become helthier. In contrast, the professor in the lecture rejects this idea, and she further explains that, smokers prefer to buy cheap cigarettes with low quality, instead of quit it. so, it has a great high risk of unhealthy life. In addition, people who addicted eating unhealthy food, prefer to buy it even with high price.
Second, the reading passage states that, taxes are financially fair. On the contrary, the professor in the lecture refuses this idea, and she makes point that, it is not fair and by buying a paket it has an owner income, so it is not fair, and has a great small income.
Third, the reading passage claims that, high taxes increase revenue for the government, and it has benefit for every one. On the other hand, the professor in the lecture says that, for new projects the government has to spend million dollars, so the government depend on these taxes,and it does not want to lose it. so, this policy has limitation. For instance, for building out-door area to smoke, smokers do not want to lose these area and income.
