The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.
The bar chart gives data regarding the hours spent on leisure activities based on the male and female gender and various employment statues during an average week between the years 1998 and 1999.
Overall, males enjoyed much more leisure time in all employment status that their information was available for both sexes compared to females. In both unemployment and retirement periods, males and females enjoyed leisure time much more than that of another employment status.
Men who were unemployed and retired were the same in terms of an amount of leisure time engaged, at approximately 85 hours per week averagely. Similarly, this trend was reflected in women, at just under 80 hours.
Regarding full-time employed people, we can see that while men spent about 45 hours on leisure activities, just 37 hours dedicated to leisure time by women being employed full-time. Meanwhile, there is no data about how much time employed part-time men and men who were doing household jobs spent on leisure, women on these jobs enjoyed 40 and 50 hours of leisure time during a week, respectively.
