The reading discusses that sending people to asteroids would be the best colonization. The author listed three reasons to support this idea. However, the speaker states that it is not practical and presents some evidence to refute all the reasons.
First, the author mentioned that low gravity causes the landing and taking off easier and safer. Also, they can carry more equipment to astroids with lower fuels. In contrast, the lecturer asserts that it accompanied by some risks such as loosing muscle mass or bone density. Hence, people suffer some health problems.
Secondly, the author points out that it provides the valuable metal sources like golden and platinum that they bring profite. On the other hand, the lecturer casts doubt on this issue by standing that it needs a tremendouse cost for supporting the colonies and trasfering the metals. Besides, there is no garauntee that the price of the metal stay the same, in fact, by increasing the supply the price will decrease. Thus, it could not be profitable.
Last but not least, the reading paasage proposes that some astroids come periodically within or near the earth's orbit and it makes reaching to them easy. On the contrary, in contradiction to the reading passage, the speaker claims that it is true that it is easy to reach but it is not easy to return. Due to the fact that some astroids have unusual behavior, they make it difficult. Some of them move away from earth and do not stay near the earth. As a matter of fact, they sometimes travel as far as Mars which makes returning challenging. In conclusion, according to the listening material, an argument that sending human to astroids has some advantagouse is unwarranted.
