Looking at the graph, it is immediately obvious that people aged 15-64 years old accounted for the greatest percentage of the population for all recorded and predicted years. Additionally, population ageing had been happening in this country.
In 1960, about 55% of the total residents came from to age group between 15 and 64. The figure then slightly fluctuated over the next thirty years before dropping strongly to 50% in 2020 and will be predicted continuously falling to around 45% in 2040. Meanwhile, the proportion of citizens aged 0-14 stood at 30% in 1996 and experienced a downward nonstop trend excepting the period from 1970 to 1980 to just over 10% in 2020. After that, the figure is foretold to go down to almost 10% in 2040.
Regarding the oldest age group, although the rate of people was aged 65 or above stayed unchanged between 1960 and 1970 at about 15%, however ever since, the number increased to roughly 35% in 2020. The statistics for the 65 or over age group is guessed to continue rising and reached a peak of at the same level as the 15-64 group.
