Dear Jane,
I can see that you are standing between 2 roads and don't know where to head on. I am writing this letter with my life experience and considering your circumstances, to guide you in choosing the right path.
When I took college last year at this juncture where you are now, I had to go through very rough path. As you know my family wasn't in a position to contribute funds for my higher education, my first semester was terrible as I have to skip lot of friendly invites to the opening parties. They weren't a big deal, but the point where you have no funds to afford the course materials made it more awkward. Well, then I quit after the first semester and took a job in pharmacy, it has made my life better. I feel now with the earnings I made, I have plenty of opportunity. And also the time to do my adventure of exploring the beaches around. Therefore, to me it is not a good idea to plunge into college at an early stage.
I do understand that you have been saying that you dad has retired shortly so, I am considering it is the same situation with the college fund support from your family as that I had. So, if you take a job you will be able to fill the pocket and at the same time the funds necessary for your leisure time. Also, you will have enough time to choose the best subject to pursue, added to that there so many online pre-prep courses available these days will help you perceive the best for you.
I would suggest my own stream pharmacy for you as I remember your added interest in the health care, and there are more options if you are looking into a management line. One of my colleague was saying about an internship cum job at warehouse facility of a car wrecker company, for which they are willing to offer lunch at job. I suggest you should consider it as you used to do those stocking up things at your garage with great care.
I guess I have given you a better picture of the 2 roads in front of you. I believe you will head on with the right one.
Yours loving friend,
Mike.
