The pie charts below show the spending of a school in the UK from 1981 to 2001.
The given pie charts compare the proportion of money invested in five different sectors in a school in the UK over a period of 20 years from 1981 to 2001.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that despite a few fluctuations, the highest invested sector remained the teachers' salaries over the entire period. In addition, the other sectors also experienced some rise and fall during the given time length.
According to the given illustration, teachers' salaries, which led the entire investment structure in each decade, observed a dramatic spike of 10% and climbed to 50% in 1991. However, a slight dropdown of 5% dragged the investment rate to 45% in 2001. On the contrary, followed by a reverse trend, a major plummet of 10% in the spending rate of furniture and equipment slipped the rate to just 5% during the first decade. But spendings in this sector sky-rocketed by nearly 5 times in the last 10 years.
On the other hand, more than a quarter(nearly 28%) of the total expenditure was diverted to other workers' salaries in 1981. Over time, a continuous decline dropped the value down by 6% and 8% respectively in 1991 and 2001. The insurance sector rather witnessed a contrasting trend, rose at a steady rate from 2% to 15% by the end period. Also facing a few ups and downs, the resources sector first rose by 5% in 1991, before drifting down by 11% in 2001( 20% down to 9%).
