The given diagram illustrates how electricity is generated with a method named Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion. Overall, during this process, the transformation of liquid water into gas due to temperature variations is used to produce drinkable water and create energy. The process can be divided in the three following steps.
In first place, taking advantage of the sun heat, liquid saltwater found in the surface of the sea is evaporated into water vapour, which separates itself from the salt. The gas is redirected through a chamber, where its flow produces the movement of a turbine. Consequently, there is a generation of electricity.
Secondly, the vapour reaches a new chamber that is circled by cold water obtained of the depths of the sea. The temperature of the circling water provokes a change of state of the water found inside the camber, which becomes potable water.
Lastly, the cold water, which has been mixed up with the salt obtained during the first step, is thrown away.
