You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to because you have some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer. In your letter:
• explain your situation
• describe your problems
• tell him/her when you think you can start.
Dear Sir\Madam,
I am writing this letter to request an extension on my joining date. My name is Harpreet, and i have been offered the position of IT Asset Manager at your organisation. Although i was considerably thrilled to join this job on the offered date, some personal emergency came up, which can not be avoided or postponed in any case.
As i have informed you that i have been staying temporarily at my friend's place for some time now, and It came to my knowledge yesterday that she will be leaving this place next week, so i have to look for a place to leave as well. In order to find suitable accommodation, i have to visit a few places myself and move there once i find a perfect shelter. Since this whole process would take a certain amount of time, it would not possible for me to join on the given date, which is due to the next week.
I will be available to start my job the next Monday. I hope it is feasible for you to make this amendment on my joining schedule.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Harpreet
