The bar chart shows the percentage of the total world population in 4 countries in 1950 and 2003, and projections for 2050
The column chart illustrates the proportions of the population in the four countries named India, China, America, and Japan from 1950, 2002, and predicts these percentages in 2050.
Overall, while the figure for Indian in 1950 was the lowest, that in the rest was consistently the highest. In addition, throughout this period, the percentages of the Japanese population was the smallest.
As can be seen from the column chart, the majority of people in the world belonged to Chinese in 1950, at just over 23%, which was followed by India, at nearly 15%. The third one was the proportion of Americans (approximately 7%), which was around twice times as high as that of the population in Japan this year (just under 5%). Also, the percentage of Chinese people experienced a significant decline by about 3% from 1950 to 2002. Next came Indians, which made up nearly 17%. Consequently, there were only roughly 5% and 3% of the population in the USA and Japan respectively.
Regarding the future data, in 2050, the highest figure of people will go to India, at over 17% and the second-highest will be in China, which will be about 7% as low as India. Nevertheless, between 2002 and 2050, the proportion of American will be predicted to stay constant, while that in Japan will decrease by about 2%.
