According to the reading passage, author lists three arguments to show international funds are useful conservation techniques in forest protection. While in the listening section, speaker states that forests are not indeed in danger and points out some competing theories, which contradict to passage's arguments.
First, the essay assumes that using the internationally established forest protection fund is the most important initiative. However, speaker admits that agriculture itself is disruptive force, because using modern methods in agriculture such as fertilizers and pesticides are harmful for forests and it will result in deforestation.
Second, the writer supposes that protection fund could be used to developing the economies of villages and tribal residents of forests. In contrast, the lecturer refutes the arguments and claims that it is an inadequate solution, because money goes to the forest owners hands and it will not ends up in the hands of tribal residents and villagers.
Finally, the author discusses that using the international fund to help governments and people establish protected forests areas to maintain valuable forest biodiversity. Contrarily, speaker reckons that if people merely plant commercially, it is rather inadequate.
