The graph shows the percentage of university students in 18-25 years old in four countries between 1961 and 2011.
The line graph gives information about the proportions of university students who were between 18 and 25 years old in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia during the period from 1961 to 2001.
Overall, there were general upward trends in the rates of students in all the countries. It is also noticeable that Singapore and Thailand experienced a dramatic rise throughout the given years.
Starting at around 15% in the first year, the percentage of Singaporean students at university was nearly three times as high as that of Thailand (5%). After that, the figures for these two countries climbed continually to 60% in 2011.
In comparison, 30% of students in this age group accounted for 30% of the total in the Philippines compared to only 3% in Malaysia. Afterward, the Philippines saw a slight increase in its figure, to approximately 42% in the following decade before witnessing downward fluctuations to end at less than 40%. Simultaneously, the proportion of students from Malaysia rose gradually to more than 20% and levelled off in the last two periods.
