The two bar charts illustrate the population living in rural and urban areas were affected by four different kinds of noise day and night over the year of 2007.
Overall, it is obvious that traffic was the leading cause of noise pollution in both regions all day and night. Besides, the noise in the day was always more intensive than that of the night.
The number of people living in downtowns was effected by traffic was 64 millions in the daytime, nearly doubled that of the countryside with 34 millions during the day. By night, there were 48 millions and 24 millions people inhabit in the metropolis and remote areas respectively, annoyed with the traffic. Meanwhile, the noise from the train affected citizens in both places minimally with less than 10 millions people in daytime and nighttime.
The statistics of urban inhabitants affected by aircraft were 4 millions and 1 million in the day and in night correspondently, whereas those of residents living in remote places were less than 2 millions. While there was no noise pollution regarding the industry in rural areas, people living in urban regions remained to be affected by the noise from the industry with the number of less than 1 million in either day or night.
