Firstly, it is obvious that overseas students continued to enrol in universities in Australia throughout the whole period. For commencing, the figure started at above 10 thousands and then kept surging until reached its highest number at over 40 thousand. In total, in 2001, there were about 20 thousand students enrolled in Australian universities and the figure continued to rise to over 30 thousand in the final year of the ten-years period.
Secondly, when it comes to local enrolments, its figure fluctuated over the period. In commencing, starting at about 18 thousand, the number rose to 22 thousand in 2002 and decreased to 19000 in 2006, then slightly increased to 22 thousand again and finally dropped to 20 thousand in 2010. Meanwhile, in total, starting at 40000, the figure jumped to over 60000 enrolments in 2007, then maintained stability in the three final years.
