food and goods bought
The charts provide information about how much food and how many goods which were bought in supermarkets in three European countries over the period of 10 years.
Overall, it can clearly be seen that there was a dramatic increase in the percentage of goods and food which were purchased in all three. However, the expense in both sectors in country 1 was the highest in both years.
Looking at the first chart for more detail, it is evident that there was a significant rise between food bought in 1998 and 2008 in country 1. While there was 10% of food sold in 1998, people spent more money on food in 2018, which accounted for 42% of the total. Next, in country 2, the percentage of food which was bought in 1998 stood at 30% and experienced about 2% more in 2008. This proportion in country 3 reached a low to 5% in 1998, before going up to a half in 2008.
Turning to the goods bought in supermarkets, it was quite similar to the situation of buying food. Making a comparison between country 1 and country 2 in 1998, it is clear that people in country 2 expended on goods more than in country 1, which was twice, namely 40% and 20%. In 2018, the number of goods which were purchased in country 1 reached a peak of 60%. In the same year, although this proportion in country 2 rose to 50% in 2018, it was 10% lower than country 1. Finally, the expense in other products in country 3 was the lowest in both years. On the other hand, there was still an increase in the percentage of goods expend from 2% in 1988 to 10% in 2008.
