Overall, it is clear that smaller and smaller and medium companies employed social media over time, while the proportion of big players in business using technology remained stable, despite a dramatic periodic drop. Besides, the large companies tended to use social networks for business purposes more than those of the others.
About 28% of the small business utilizing social networks in 2013 and then rising gradually to about 35% after three years. However, one year later, the figure declined slightly to 30% in 2015, before reaching a peak at nearly 50% in the final year. Meanwhile, medium-sized organizations witnessed a significant increase by one-third in their figure, from 30% in 2012 to over a half in 2016, after reaching a high score of less than 40% in 2013 and 2014, and a low of 30% in 2015.
The percentage of a large business that used social media stayed steady in the first three years, at about 78%, which was followed by a dramatic drop to 50% in 2015. The figure started to go up again, at nearly 80% in 2016.
