The given bar chart compares the British housing choices that are surveyed between three cities in the UK, namely London, Oxford, Cambridge in 2005.
Overall, the figure for flats usage in the UK is dominant, followed by the preference of semi-detached houses. By contrast, the percentage of terraced houses together with detached houses is less prevalent among the others.
In regard to flats and semi-detached houses, It is clear that the overwhelming majority of Londoners prefer flats, at nearly 60%, which doubles the percentage of people in Oxford that choose flats as their accommodation. Meanwhile, the least percentage of flats usage belongs to Cambridge, at exactly 20 %. The second largest group in the housing preferences is Semi-detached houses with as many people in Oxford as those in Cambridge accommodate their family in Semi-detached type of housing, at nearly 30 %. The least category of citizens opting for that type of housing is Londoners, which close behind 20 %.
In terms of terraced houses and detached houses which are the two less popular in comparison with other types of accommodation. A quite small minority of Londoners choose detached house to live in, at around 10%; however, the figure for that in Oxford is approximately 30%. Clearly, most citizens in Cambridge opt for detached houses as their type of housing, at around 40 %. The second smallest group belongs to the figure for terraced house with the ratio of accommodation in three countries is practically equal to each other. Nearly one in five citizens choose this style of housing, followed by the smaller percentage of London.
