The charts below show the percentage of people working in different sectors in town A and town B in 1960, 2010.
Given are pie charts depicting the alteration in the percentages of workers in different industries, namely manufacturing, sales and services in two distinct towns over a phase of over 40 years, starting in 1960.
It is conspicuous that while both towns shared the same movement in the extension of employee numbers in services and the shrinking in the number of manufacturing workers, the opposite was true for sales.
Regarding the rates of workers in the sales industry, while there were nearly a half fewer people working in this sector in town A from 30% in the first year to around 16% in 2010, town B experienced a period of moderate growth in that number over the years with negligible 2% higher than 20% recorded in the 1960s. Furthermore, this field accounted for the lowest number of employees in both towns compared to the rest in 2010.
In terms of workers’ percentages working in the services industry, an expansion in work labor was recorded in town A when only 29% of people involving in the first year, this rate reached 64% in 2010 which turned from the least favorable job in 1960 to the most popular one 40 years later. Likewise, the same movement was recorded in town B when only 10% of the whole town’s workers in the first year increased to sharply a quarter within 40 years, becoming the second industry with a large number of workers. By contrast, moving backward in the percentage of people employed in manufacturing, the numbers dropped to only a fifth in town A and roughly 53% in town B in the last year given from 41% and 70% in 1960 respectively. Despite that fall, manufacturing still held its first rank in the rate of people working among other fields in town B in the early 21 century.
