The provided graph gives information on the proportion of oil consumption in 4 countries namely Iceland, Sweden, Italy and Turkey over a period of time from 1966 to 2006.
A glance at the graph reveals that half of the studied nations exhibited a downward trend, whereas Turkey was on an upward trajectory. Meanwhile, the figure for Italy slightly fluctuated.
As presented in the graph, in 1996, the amount of oil usage in Turkey was the least of four countries with 60%, whereas that of Italy ranked first at 90%. However, during the 40-year period, while Turkey experienced a significant increase in the percentage of energy consumption, Italy showed a moderate fluctuation ranging from 80% to 90%. In 2006, Turkey leapfrogged Italy by an approximate 5%.
A quite different picture can be seen in Sweden and Iceland, the proportion of which decreased sharply to 40% and 30% respectively. Commencing from 1986, while Sweden showed a gradual fall to nearly 30% in 2006, Iceland experienced a small rise in 1996 and then steeply decline to 20% in 2006.
