The graph and table below show the average monthly rainfalls and average annual rainfalls for three towns in the district of Kona in Hawaii for a 30-year period (1971-2000) which are Kainaliu, Opihihale and Holualoa .Out of these 3, Kainaliu gets the maximum average yearly rainfall.
As illustrated by the graph and , it is seen that the town Kainaliu receives the peak rainfall in the months July and September. As per the graphical information, Kainaliu rainwater is on a steady rise post February to attain the maxima at around 17cm in the months ranging between July to September. Post-September months mostly record a plummet in the precipitation amount to reach as low as approximately 05 cm in December.
Holualoa records lesser rainfall rainfall as compared to Kainaliu but more in comparison to Opihihale in the years between 1971 and 200. It records heavy precipitation intermittently as reflected by the chart where it gets approximately 11cm of rains in June, April and October, with the maximum rains in July exceeding 12cm. Post-October, the charts reflect a constant decline in the centimeters of rain falling and the lowest is recorded in December (6.9cm approximately).
Average annual rainfall is the lowest for Opihihale. It shows an anomaly when its precipitation increases to 9cm in February but falls till April. It shows a meager rise in the amount of precipitation throughout the next five months to attain the summit of nearly 10.5 cm in September only to see a steep dip in the coming winter months.
