THE MAP BELOW SHOW THE CHANGES THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE TOWN AT THE SEASIDE RESORT OF BEACH BETWEEN 1950 AND 1990.
Given are the three maps delineating the transformations of Laguna Beach during a phase of 40 years, commencing from 1950.
Perceptibly, the region experienced drastic modifications with the elimination of the old facilities to upgrade Laguna Beach to become more modern and suit the needs of tourists coming here.
In the 1950s, there were sand dunes in the west while its opposite side was occupied by the track and woodland. Between these two areas, there were beach huts located behind the seafront area which was still surrounded by sea sand.
After the next 20 years, the sand dunes and the beach remained intact, and the track was widened to become a major road while the woodland was cut down to make way for the Caravan Park. Strikingly, the original beach huts were expanded and upgraded to the villas.
However, in 1990 Laguna Beach had significant changes except for the road. On the western part, the sand dunes were superseded by the Landscaped Garden. Furthermore, the area on the east side next to the road was demolished and supplanted by the new car park. In addition, the villas in the center were developed into the hotel and right next to its east side, the appearance of the pool was reported. The most prominent of the alterations was the construction of the surf school on the seashore.
